Plant List:
Adenanthos cuneata, Aeonium Schwarzkopf, 2 x Agave americana, Agonis flexuosa variegated Pink TM, Alyogyne Melissa Anne (Native Hibiscus), Breynia nivosa roseo picta, Cycas revoluta (Cycad) , Cordyline Red Sensation, Imperata cylindrica rubra (Japanese Blood Grass), Lavatera maritima, Plumbago alba, Sedum Vera Jameson, Senecio mandraliscae, and Trachelospermum tricolour (Star Jasmine).
Glorietta
Hundreds of years before air conditioners were invented the people who lived around the Mediterranean took refuge from the heat in the courtyards and gardens that they had created. These courtyards took different forms in different countries but all were based on the concept of creating a "Glorietta" or private little paradise. Naturally enough the idea of paradise in a hot climate involved an enclosure to keep out the heat, shady trees and the soothing ambience of gently flowing water.
The main courtyard, which is enclosed by delicate wrought iron fencing, leads into a more private courtyard. Here a nook with a built-in seat provides the perfect place to share a drink with friends or to take an afternoon nap. In keeping with the times, waterwise plants including natives and succulents, have been utilised with plants selected as much for their foliage colour as for their flowers to provide year round interest.
Glorietta was designed for The LIAWA Show Gardens by Linda Green of Hidcote Landscapes and follows a long involvement with Garden Week including Ecotopia in 2002, The Waterwise Gardens in 2003 and an award in 2003 for "Most Inspirational Display" for a joint project Linda undertook with 2 other Garden Designers.
In the 15yrs since Linda Green established Hidcote Landscapes hundreds of satisfied clients havev enjoyed the benefits of having their gardens designed to suit their individual needs. Linda's sound horticultural knowledge and artistic flair has enabled her to design gardens in a wide variety of tastes and styles while interpreting and incorporating the wishes of her clients. The Baileys Classical Garden
Plant List:
Turf (soft leaved buffalo); Massed potted colour in colours red, purple and blue; 6 x Bougainvillea (white) in white cast iron urns; Waterlily blooms floating in glass dish
The Baileys Classical Garden
is an elegant interpretation of the "Inside Out theme" with the columns and Roman Façade reminiscent of a more decadent and luxurious time, when it was considered commonplace to dine at grand tables and feast on sumptuous banquets. And what could be more exquisite than to dine at a table with a tapestry of flowers at your feet.
One of Perth's Leading Garden Designers, Neil Hansen (Neil Hansen Landscapes) has been creating exquisite landscapes in Perth during the last decade following extensive studies both here and abroad. This is evident in Neil’s strong artistic flair and his creative style doesn't end with landscaping, Neil also creates stunning Trompe L'Oeil for select clients.
Neil's inspiration for design comes from his extensive travels through Russia, Italy, France and the UK and his designs reflect this International flavour. However Perth born Neil Hansen is also very conscious of embracing our unique Western Australian floral heritage, creating elegant gardens that thrive in our climate.

Outside in
The final chapter in the trilogy of show gardens at Garden Week is a fun and funky, great Australian design that captures the idea of taking the living room-outside! After all, here in Perth we have the perfect climate for Alfresco living, and this contemporary courtyard is designed to inspire West Australians to maximize the usage of their outdoor spaces. You will be surprised at the range of objects suitable to this Alfresco zone.
